A few years ago, I was close to quitting my job as a Dean of Students (Assistant Principal). I wasn’t getting enough joy out of what I was doing, nor did I feel the compensation was worth. I figured if I wasn’t going to be happy, I might as well find a job that compensates me at a higher level.
This was when Dustin Peterson came into my life as a Leadership Coach. We spent 8-10 sessions over the course of a year working on the next move in my career. I thought he was going to help me find another organization that might be a better fit, but it turned out that I was already there! He helped me uncover my strengths and passions, giving me the praise and encouragement I needed to see the abilities I had to offer other people. I was able to restructure my role in small ways, still completing all job responsibilities, but finding new ways of doing them that aligned to my strengths.
Now I love what I do, the people I work with, and the organization I work for. And I didn’t have to leave my organization or career to feel this way!
Then his book came out and I realized that many of the concepts he used to coach me were in his book. People from all over can benefit from his coaching from the comfort of their homes.
This book will help you determine one of the following:
- You’re in the right organization, but need help restructuring what you do to be happy in your role.
- You’re in the right industry, but need to find another organization.
- You’re not in the right industry and need to find one that works for you.
There’s no greater feeling in the morning than knowing you love what you do and where you do it. I hope you get to experience it soon if you haven’t already!
